The reason why is because I hope to be able to earning money in my job to take care of my family.<br /><br />This blog will depict many funny snapshots from my life as they pertain to the mortgage industry and my family. The purpose is twofold. First, this is some sort of therapy. Second, I hope to ease the burdens of those who read who may be going through similar circumstances....<br /><br />I began in the mortgage industry in February of 2002 when the boom was really on. I relocated from Plano TX to South Florida with my four children and wife. I worked for General Electric selling Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) to large institutions as well as local mortgage brokers. My career continued when I sold wholesale mortgages at various institutions including: HSBC and SunTrust. Also, I worked at smaller institutions.<br /><br />At the peak of my greatness, I was earning approx 15k monthly. My son was in a very nice private school (North Broward Prep), I was driving a QX56, I NEVER checked the bank balance, our family vacationed at will, a meal for 200 was nothing. In other words, life was good. Then the market shifted...<br /><br />In June 2007 I resigned from SunTrust Mortgage (I had negotiated a sign on of 30k a year earlier). I resigned when I could no longer live on what I considered a paltry 6000 per month. If I had known then what I know now, I would have made different mistakes...<br /><br />Suffice what was about to happen was so far out of my capacity to foretell, I remain amazed that I still am experiencing it.<br /><br />Shortly after my resignation from Suntrust, the retail loans I had in my pipeline all failed due to the meltdown of the mortgage industry. I went from having the potential to make a decent living, to making nothing all in a period of about 6 months.<br /><br />My QX56 - Well this nice car I had to bring back due to not making payments (aka. it was repossessed). My 2002 Ford Taurus - Well this car I had to sell due to a debt I had to pay off.<br /><br />The car we ended up with was (and is) a 1994 Nissan Altima with 140k miles. This car is a far cry from the lap of luxury with which we were acquainted. Our Altima leaks oil, the air conditioner does not work (we still live in Florida), our front windows don't roll down, and we have to pour water in it each time we drive because the radiator leaks. We like to call it our watermobile. <br /><br />Remember, I have four children.
